Learn about the significance of the date 24 February and how we recognize it!

Significance of the date - 2/24

In 2017, the FamilieSCN2A Foundation established International SCN2A Awareness Day, celebrated each year on February 24th — a date chosen because the SCN2A gene is located on the long (q) arm of chromosome 2 at position 24.3. In the early days, families marked the occasion in small but powerful ways — lighting candles, sharing their stories online, and wearing blue, green, and purple to honor their loved ones. What began as a few families connecting across time zones has grown into a global movement. Today, landmarks around the world glow in our colors as families, researchers, and partners unite to raise awareness, advance research, and bring hope to everyone affected by SCN2A-related disorders.

SCN2A Awareness Day will help us accomplish the FamilieSCN2A Foundation mission to improve the lives of those affected by SCN2A related disorders through research, public awareness, family support and patient advocacy.
